About Me

Hi and welcome! My name is Nichole and I am the one-woman-show behind Paradise Flats Quilt Co. I love to quilt (obviously), drink coffee, go on long walks with my golden retriever, Shadow, read and spend time with my two boys. In my "real life" I am a practicing Physician Assistant of 16 years. I live in rural NW Kansas on a farm and enjoy a slower pace of life with gorgeous sunsets, dirt roads and cows.

The area surrounding where I live was first called the Paradise Flats. It was later renamed Plainville. The name Paradise Flats was derived from the fact that it is a large and level plain situated at the head of the Paradise Creek, where buffalo, deer and antelope were once so plentiful it was called a “Hunters Paradise.” Paradise Creek also happens to run through our property.

Sewing has roots in my family. My grandma and aunts were/are accomplished sewists. When I was younger I sewed garments in 4-H with their help, but then didn't sew for many years. I began my quilting journey about 13 years ago when I was asked to make a single quilt block for a family wedding quilt. After that, I was hooked!

As I've sewn over the years I have had a desire to learn to longarm quilt, but thought it was out of reach for me. I have quilted many a quilt on my domestic machine. But whew, basting! Amiright?! In the summer of 2023 I purchased a floor model Bernina Q24 with Qmatic from my local dealer and I haven't looked back. It's been fun and rewarding to bring my own quilt tops to life and help others do the same!
