Investment
Price per Square Inch
Edge-to-edge quilting is $0.02 cents per square inch for all designs.
Semi-custom digital quilting is $0.05 cent per square inch.
Example: A quilt top is 60 in x 80 in. 60 x 80 = 4800sq in x .02 = $96.00.
My minimum quilting charge is $50. This means that a small quilt or table runner's square inch price will be rounded up to the $50 minimum, because even though it is smaller, it still takes the same amount of time to load and set up on the machine.
I recognize that using a longarm quilter is an investment and I want to treat it as such. I have done my best to be transparent with any possible charges that may come up.
Batting
Batting is a separate charge and is NOT included in the square inch price. You may provide your own high-quality batting, or have it shipped to me.
I use and stock my favorite Quilters Dream batting in 96 in rolls. I carry the 80/20 cotton/poly blend (natural), 100% cotton select loft (natural), and bamboo (so luxurious!). I have limited quantities of wool batting in stock, please ask for availability. If your quilt is wider than 96 inches we can special order any batting. I have a wholesale account with Quilters Dream. Please check out the Quilters Dream Batting website to see what they have to offer.
Batting is charged by the linear inch, see prices below, except in the case of special orders. I will use only what is needed for your quilt (smallest side + a 5" margin) and charge per inch.
For example, if you have a 60" x 80" quilt, I would cut 65" of the batting of your choice.
65" of 100% cotton select loft @ $0.40/in = $26.00
65" of 80/20 cotton/poly blend @ $0.40/in = $26.00
65" of Bamboo @ $0.48/in = $31.20
If you have any questions regarding batting, I'd love to help!
Thread and Needle
I stock Glide thread (#40 and #50 weight) in multiple color options. There is a $5.00 flat fee per quilt that includes all thread and bobbins used, and a new needle.
My personal style attempts to match or blend thread color with the lighter areas of your quilt. But this is YOUR quilt! Let me know if you have a preference on thread color.
Photography
I'm not a professional photographer but I do my best to take "nice" photos! :) Upon completion of the quilting, I will take photos of your quilt in my studio and weather permitting outside, then text/email you those images to use however you would like. I'd just ask that you credit me for the photo and/or quilting if posting publicly. This is included in your square inch price.
Shipping
Shipping your top and backing to me: I live in Kansas, USA, and would be happy to receive your top and backing by mail. I will provide my address when we agree to work together. I'd recommend sending your materials enclosed in some kind of sack or bag to protect against possible moisture in transit and then placed in a hard-sided cardboard box. Make sure the box is securely taped and labeled clearly.
Return shipping: I will send your quilt back to you in the manner described above via USPS Priority mail (using flat rate when possible/economical). Priority mail comes with $100 of insurance and a tracking number but please indicate on your intake form if you would like me to buy any additional insurance on your behalf.
Other Costs
I'm required by the State of Kansas to collect a 9.0% sales tax on the batting used and quilting service portion of an invoice. Shipping, and any design/pantograph fees are not subject to sales tax.
